Our History

1977

FOUNDATION

Laurent (Larry) Malette founded Malco Enr. and set up in a small space in Granby. In the beginning, his inventory of promotional items was limited to a few things: ashtrays, pens, t-shirts, rulers…

His team consists of 4 people: himself, a sales director, an art director, and an office employee

1978

MAJOR CONTRACTS

This is the year when the government decides to remove front license plates from vehicles.

Decorative plates make their appearance, and many organizations take advantage of this prime real estate to showcase their brand, including the Quebec Nordiques and the Quebec Winter Carnival.

Malco secures several contracts, resulting in the sale of 300,000 plates, totaling over $500,000 in revenue.

1979

MALGA INC.

Malco Enr. becomes Publicité Malga Inc.

1987

MARTIN MALETTE

Mr. Malette’s son, Martin Malette, joins Publicité Malga, where he will work for nearly 25 years. He is known for his originality, his imagination and his dynamic personnality.

1989

RICHARD MALETTE

Another son of Mr. Malette, Richard Malette, joins the team. He quickly becomes the patriarch of the company. Richard is an authentic, honest, and creative person who is passionate about each of his projects. He leaves an indelible mark everywhere he goes within the industry.

1996

Due to its remarkable growth, Publicité Malga moves to a new location (2000 sq ft) on Boulevard Boivin in Granby. Its clientele now extends throughout Canada and even into the United States.

1998

DISTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR

For the second time in 4 years, Publicité Malga receives the industry’s highest recognition by being named Distributor of the Year in Eastern Canada. (PPPC)

This is also the year Dominic Côté joins the team as an intern. He will grow within the company and hold numerous positions in accounting, sales, and administration.

1999

14 000 SQ FT

Big move! After only 3 years on Boivin Street, the company realizes that 2000 sq ft is not enough to meet the demand. Publicité Malga permanently relocates to Georges-Cros Street in a 14,000 sq ft space.

2001

A NEW GENERATION

The founder, Laurent Malette, retires, leaving the company  to his sons. He will nevertheless remain a reassuring presence for 10 years as a mentor and advisor.

2003

4 NATIONAL PRIZES

Once again, Publicité Malga stood out at the PPPC Image Awards gala. Up against the giants of the industry, the team scooped four National Awards, including two Gold trophies.

2017

40 YEARS

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Publicité Malga has changes its name to Malga, and launches a new brand image.

More than ever, Malga has positioned itself as one of Canada's most respected distributors of corporate promotional products. It stands out for its originality, the solutions it offers, but above all for its exemplary, fast and efficient service!

2019

CONTINUED GROWTH

Malga once again faces a space challenge : the building on Georges-Cros Street can no longer accommodate all the company's operations. A new place of business is acquired on Principale Street to house sales and administrative staff. This allows for the expansion of production and warehousing.

2020

HUMAN RESSOURCES

The team is growing, and Malga's vision for the future has led to the creation of a full-fledged Human Resources department. The HR team's mandate is to meet employees' needs, support managers in leading their teams, and enhance the employer brand.

2021

ACQUISITION OF EMBLÈME

Malga acquires Distribution Emblème. Over the years, this company, firmly established since 1983, had supported Malga's growth with its production services. This merger benefits both organizations by consolidating and pooling the expertise of each entity. Malga becomes Malga|Emblème. The team is constantly striving to innovate in its ways of doing things, to develop new markets and to offer its employees a motivating and caring work environment, always with the aim of better serving its customers.

MALGA now has almost 50 employees. The production and sales teams are relocated to the Emblème site on Léon-Harmel Street. The administrative and program teams remain on rue Principale, while warehousing and logistics are managed on rue Georges-Cros.

2022

RETIREMENT AND SUCCESSION

After more than 33 years with Malga, Richard Malette hangs up his promotional pens.

Throughout his career, Richard embodied Malga's values through his commitment to excellence and creativity, but above all through his deep respect and unwavering dedication to his colleagues, customers and partners. Those who had the privilege of learning and growing from this benevolent leader will always remember him fondly.

The torch is passed! Dominic Côté takes over as President and CEO.

2023

ACQUISITION OF THE GRAND BAZAR'S CORPORATE CLIENTELE

Malga|Emblème has entered into a partnership with the new owners of the Grand Bazar to serve the local chain's long-established corporate clientele.

2024

CONSOLIDATION

Still growing, and driven by Dominic Côté's ambitious vision, Malga|Emblème launched plans in 2023 to consolidate its operations under a single roof. A major project began at 625 Georges-Cros: the complete renovation of the original 17,000 ft2 building, and the addition of an 8,000 ft2 multi-level storage wing, required an investment of over $4 million and was completed in less than a year. In January 2024, all operations and employees are finally united under one roof.

This most recent transition has refocused the company's image on its deep roots by reclaiming the MALGA brand.

RECOGNITION

At the Desjardins Distinction Gala presented by the Haute-Yamaska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, MALGA won the grand prize in the Best HR Practices category. This victory acknowledges the company's commitment to its employees, and its dedication to creating an exceptional work environment.

2025

DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
